  WELCOME TO LEGGETTHOUSE

In 1883 J. P. Leggett developed an idea for a new spiral steel coil bedspring. Mr. Leggett took the idea to his brother-in-law C.B. Platt and together they formed Leggett and Platt which today is a fortune 500 company. Not long after founding the company Joseph Leggett commissioned local builder Joseph Prather to build his home at 1106 Grand, and it was completed in 1901, the same year that Leggett and Platt was officially incorporated.

The home is a 3 story Classic Revival Mansion built of locally quarried Carthage Stone. Features of the home include oak, maple and pine floors, 5 ornate fireplaces, working pocket doors with brass hardware, chandeliers and a fountain in the Solarium carved out of Carthage marble. The Ballroom on the 3rd floor is perfect for large gatherings or use as private quarters as it comes with it’s own private bedroom and bath.
